The Localiza rent a car FAQs section is an useful source for you to find out answers for questions about our service.

Reservations

Brazilian customers with a CNH:

The minimum rental requirements are:

  • Be at least 18 years old. Additionally, drivers under 21 must include the Young Driver add-on at the time of booking;
  • Have a valid driver’s license;
  • Pass a credit approval evaluation;
  • Have a credit card (physical or contactless) in the name of the reservation holder or the Financially Responsible Person to pay the Pre-Authorization

Foreign customers or Brazilian customers with a foreign driver’s license:

The minimum rental requirements are:

  • Be at least 18 years old. Additionally, drivers under 21 must include the “Young Driver” add-on at the time of booking;
  • Have a valid driver’s license;
  • Pass a credit approval evaluation;
  • Have a credit card (physical or contactless) in the name of the reservation holder.
  • Additionally, you need a document proving your entry date into the country, such as:
    • Passport with a physical stamp from the Federal Police showing entry into Brazil, or
    • Air, sea, or bus ticket showing the country of origin and entry date into Brazil, or
    • Federal Police permit.

Lastly, according to Brazilian Traffic Legislation, customers with a foreign driver’s license can only drive in Brazil for up to 180 days, respecting the validity of the original license. Ensure the presented proof complies with this period.

Reminder: For Mercosur countries, a passport is not necessary. An ID is sufficient.

We understand that, sometimes, renting a car is urgent. That’s why you can make your reservation up to 30 minutes in advance and then just drive away from the nearest branch!

We always send an email informing you of your request status, but if you prefer, just check the “My Reservations” tab on our website or app.

However, if you selected a group that still needs availability confirmation, please wait. We will soon send you an email with the confirmation (or denial) of your reservation.

To make your choice easier, we group cars with similar features. This way, when you make a reservation, you choose a group and, at the time of pickup, simply rent the model you prefer from those available.

We only rent vans with a driver service.

The cars in each group have similar characteristics, and the availability of a specific model can only be confirmed at the time of pickup.

At the time of booking, no. You can select the car group, and on the day of pickup, you’ll receive the available model. However, with Fast Digital Pickup, you can choose the model based on the fleet’s availability at the chosen branch.

Yes. Several factors can affect pricing, such as high demand, poor road conditions, and sea air. However, by booking in advance through our digital channels (app or website), you ensure the best rates and offers!

Yes. Localiza is present in ArgentinaColombiaEcuadorUruguayMexico, and Paraguay. For these destinations, you can make your reservation directly through our website or app. For other locations, we recommend renting with our international partners: AlamoEnterprise, or National.

In both cases, our service operates from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 10 PM, including holidays. On Saturdays and Sundays, we are available from 8 AM to 8 PM.

Yes! We are ready to assist you not only at major airports in Brazil but also in other countries where we operate. To see the full list of airports where Localiza is present, just click the following link: Rental agencies network

At some airports, our branch is nearby but not within the airport premises. For your safety and convenience, Localiza offers shuttle vans from the airport to the branch (and vice versa). Just look for our service counter, usually located near the arrivals area.

Reservations made through Localiza’s partner websites can only be modified by the partners themselves. Therefore, we are unable to make changes through our Reservations Center.

If an unforeseen event prevents you from picking up the car, you can cancel your reservation. However, the cancellation must be made at least 48 hours in advance, as stated in our Cancellation Policy.

If the cancellation is made less than 48 hours in advance, a fee of 20% of the rental amount will be charged, limited to two days. If you do not cancel and do not show up at the time of pickup, a fee of 30% will be charged, also limited to two days.

Reminder: To cancel your reservation without any charges, simply open the home screen of our app, where you can view and cancel your reservations as needed.

It’s a car rental add-on for individual drivers aged over 18 and under 21. If you’re within this age range, you must include the Young Driver add-on, have a valid driver’s license (provisional or permanent), and a credit card in your name with an available limit for the Pre-Authorization charge.

The fee is R$38.95 per day for daily rentals and R$14.95 per day for monthly rentals.

No. Vehicles rented under a personal contract cannot be used for rideshare or app-based transportation services and are subject to blocking.
