The Localiza rent a car FAQs section is an useful source for you to find out answers for questions about our service.
Fast Digital Pickup
The Fast Digital Pickup is a car rental model where you don’t need to go through the service counter. The entire process is done digitally, so no waiting in line!
On the scheduled day, you go directly to the parking lot. There, you can choose the model, make the payment, and unlock the car door using your phone with the Localiza app. Then, you’re ready to hit the road!
The minimum requirements are:
- Be at least 18 years old. Additionally, drivers under 21 must include the Young Driver add-on at the time of booking;
- Have a valid driver’s license;
- Place your reservation on a branch that’s compatible with Fast Digital Pickup;
- Choose a car that’s compatible with Fast Digital Pickup.
If you’re an individual, you can make your Fast Digital Pickup reservation through the Localiza website or app. Just follow these steps:
- Access the Localiza website or app;
- Choose a branch with the Fast Digital Pickup badge;
- Select your pickup and return dates;
- Pick your preferred car group (with the Fast Digital Pickup badge);
- Choose the Fast Digital Pickup mode;
- Add any protections and extras you want;
- That’s it! Now, just wait for your reservation day to quickly pick up and unlock your car.
However, if your contract is under a company name, reservations must be made through the WebCorp portal by your company’s designated person.
- Rentals up to 28 days for Individuals: You can pay with cash or debit/credit cards (American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club International, and Elo) issued in Brazil. Corporate/Business cards and prepaid cards are not accepted.
- Rentals over 29 days for Individuals: For monthly rentals, please check the conditions at the following link: Localiza Monthly Flex Rental.
- Rentals for Businesses: Payments can be made upfront, in installments on a credit card, or invoiced according to contractual terms.
Important info:
- The Pre-Authorization hold and rental payment are only processed when you pick up the car. You cannot pay in advance.
- For Pix payments: after paying the Pre-Authorization with a credit card, you’ll receive a code to make the Pix transfer through your bank’s app.
Yes! You can modify your reservation up to 24 hours before the scheduled pickup date.
If you make changes less than 24 hours in advance, a fee of 25% of the reservation value will be charged for cancellations, and 10% for modifications, both capped at the cost of one daily rate.
To make changes, follow these steps:
- Go to the “Reservations” section on the Localiza app or website;
- Select the desired reservation;
- Click the “Modify Reservation” button;
- Choose what you want to change, make the modifications, and click on “Update“.
If you are an individual, the Payment Tag is already enabled for the entire fleet available for Fast Digital Pickup. In these cases, you just need to request the Tag through the Localiza app at the time of booking. Cool, right?
However, if you are a business customer, the activation of the Payment Tag is done according to your company’s contract with Localiza. In these cases, please speak with your Sales Manager.
The facial recognition and driver’s license validation process is very simple!
Facial Recognition:
- Open the Localiza app;
- Go to the “Profile” menu at the bottom right of the screen;
- Click on “Facial Recognition“;
- Follow the instructions in the app.
Driver’s License Validation:
- Have your driver’s license (CNH) ready.
- Open the Localiza app;
- Go to the “Profile” menu at the bottom right of the screen;
- Click on “CNH“;
- Follow the instructions in the app.
Once your facial recognition is validated, you only need to repeat the process if you change your phone. In that case, just follow the same steps on your new device.
That’s it! After these steps, you can use the Digital Pickup service.
After starting your pickup and validating your identity in the Localiza app, you can choose your preferred car from the available options.
At this stage, you’ll have access to helpful information to make your decision:
- Model
- License Plate
- Mileage
- Color
Once you’ve reviewed the available options, simply select your preferred car and follow the instructions to complete your Digital Pickup.
You don’t need to go to the service desk or wait in line because the entire process is done through the Localiza app. Here’s how:
- In the Localiza app, click the “Start Fast Digital Pickup” button;
- Validate your identity using your fingerprint, face ID, PIN, or phone password;
- Choose your car from the available options and add any extras you want;
- Complete the Pre-Authorization and payment;
- Finally, go to the parking spot indicated on your app screen and click the “Unlock My Car” button;
- That’s it! The car keys will be in the glove compartment.
Important info about Fast Digital Pickup:
- You can start the pickup process up to 1 hour and 30 minutes before the scheduled time and up to 2 hours after (according to the branch’s operating hours).

- Ensure your phone’s Bluetooth and location services are turned on when unlocking the car.
- The car can only be unlocked after payment confirmation, and you must be next to the car (in the spot indicated in the Localiza app).
Before your Digital Pickup, you’ll receive all the instructions via WhatsApp. Additionally, the Localiza app provides step-by-step guidance to ensure a quick and easy experience.
However, if you encounter any issues, our support team is always available at the branch! You can always count on us.
The return process is very straightforward. When it’s time to return the car, go to the chosen branch and start the return process.
Reminder: the car should be returned in the same condition as when you picked it up. Make sure the tank is full, the car is clean, and you haven’t left any personal items behind.
Yes! You can easily include an Additional Driver when making your reservation. However, if you choose the Unlimited Driver option (which allows more people to drive the car during the rental period), we need you to provide us the details of the additional drivers via Localiza’s WhatsApp.
It depends! In this mode, it is not possible to include physical add-ons at the time of booking (such as a baby chair, infant car seat, or booster seat). For this, choose the other pick-up option or, at the time of pick-up, go to the counter.
Yes! Daily rental contracts with Localiza Fast earn points in the Localiza Loyalty Program.
Additionally, by using the Digital Pickup service, you earn an extra 100 points.
