Insurance and Protections
No. Reservations do not automatically include insurance or protections. These services are optional and can be purchased during the reservation process or at the time of contract opening.
No! The purchase of packages, protections, or insurance is optional and can be made either during the reservation or at the time of contract opening. If these items are not purchased, the customer assumes full responsibility for compensating the rental company up to the total value of the vehicle in the event of damage or incidents.
To ensure greater safety during your rental, Localiza offers four types of protection, which can be purchased individually or through the additional packages (Standard, Complete, or Premium). You can add them during the reservation or when opening the contract.
If you prefer to purchase them individually, the available options are:
VEHICLE PROTECTION: Provides partial coverage for damages and incidents affecting the Localiza vehicle, including theft, robbery, fire, and total loss. In such cases, charges follow the amount established by the Fixed Damage Limit Cost.
THIRD-PARTY INSURANCE: Offered by a partner insurance company, this coverage applies to bodily, material, and moral damages caused to third parties. If the insurance is triggered, a predefined coparticipation fee will be charged as stated in the contract.
FULL DAMAGE PROTECTION:An extension of the Vehicle Protection, this option covers 100% of damage-related costs, including glass and tire coverage, and exempts towing charges in case of an accident.
If combined with Third-Party Insurance, no coparticipation fee will be charged when the insurance is used.
Note: This protection does not cover theft or robbery, and the Fixed Damage Limit Cost still applies in such cases
PREMIUM GLASS AND TIRE PROTECTION: Covers 100% of damage costs to windows, windshields, mirrors, headlights, taillights, and tires.
It does not cover theft or robbery of these parts or any other accessories.
It’s the maximum amount Localiza can charge when the car is damaged, stolen, or robbed. This amount can vary depending on the vehicle group and the rental type, whether daily or monthly.

Yes. Coverage may be denied in situations previously outlined in the rental agreement, such as: driving under the influence, unauthorized driver, using a mobile phone while driving, fleeing the scene of an accident without providing assistance, or illegal overtaking. We will charge the Pre-Set Damage Limit Cost according to the table present in the General Rental Contract Conditions.
If a damage or incident occurs and you did not purchase Vehicle Protection, you will be responsible for the full cost of the damages, without access to the reduced amount provided by the Fixed Damage Limit Cost.
If third-party vehicles are involved and you did not purchase Third-Party Insurance, you will also be responsible for any bodily, material, or moral damages, with no possibility of triggering the insurance through coparticipation.
