The Localiza rent a car FAQs section is an useful source for you to find out answers for questions about our service.

Car Care and Maintenance

To ensure your safety and keep your car in top condition, always check the following:

  • Engine oil level: Check with the vehicle cold. If the level is below the recommended amount, take the car to your contract agency for a technical evaluation;
  • Tire pressure: Inflate according to the manufacturer’s specifications;
  • Radiator water level;
  • Windshield washer reservoir: Always keep it full and do not use alcohol, solvents, or soap to fill the reservoir.

Important: If any warning lights or indicators on the car’s dashboard light up, turn off the engine immediately and contact our Emergency Customer Assistance via WhatsApp

You can refuel with any type of fuel you prefer, but we recommend choosing ethanol as it is the most sustainable option. Also, remember to be mindful of the quality of the gas station you choose.

At the time of the car’s inspection.

We recommend using only official paid parking lots or garages. Avoid parking cars on public streets, even if they are under the watch of security guards.

It depends on the city where you’ll be driving in. In the city of São Paulo, for example, the Municipal Rotation System is implemented to reduce vehicle flow and, consequently, traffic congestion.

This system is based on restricting the circulation of cars with license plates ending in the following numbers, distributed according to the day of the week:

  • Monday: 1 and 2
  • Tuesday: 3 and 4
  • Wednesday: 5 and 6
  • Thursday: 7 and 8
  • Friday: 9 and 0

The rotation system operates from Monday to Friday, except on holidays, from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Important: Any vehicle driving in São Paulo during the week is subject to the Rotation rules, regardless of the driver’s city or country of origin.

You can install accessories like alarms and window tinting; however, these costs are not covered by Localiza. Additionally, when returning the car, it must be free of these items to avoid any extra charges.

Maintenance should be performed every 12 months or according to the mileage indicated in the car’s manual, whichever comes first. To schedule an appointment, simply contact our Maintenance and Service Center via WhatsApp

We rely on you to keep track of the car’s maintenance schedule. Remember, failing to complete this procedure may result in future charges.

No. Car maintenance and repairs should only be performed by Localiza’s partner repair shops and must be scheduled in advance. Unauthorized procedures may result in the loss of Car Protection and Third-Party Coverage.

Yes. If the maintenance or repair takes longer than 4 hours, your car can be replaced with another one from the same group, depending on the fleet availability at the agency.

Because we need to keep our fleet always new! Therefore, we replace cars based on their age or mileage. If your car is due for replacement, we will contact you, okay?

Important: this replacement is not optional. Failure to comply with this procedure may result in charges, as outlined in the Special Conditions for Monthly Car Rentals for Individuals

A vehicle from the same group of cars chosen at the time of reservation. If you want a car from a different group than your plan, you need to close the current contract and open a new one.

The car exchange is done at no additional cost in the following situations:

  • In cases of mechanical failure, where the vehicle needs to stay in the workshop for more than 4 hours;
  • When the car reaches the age and/or mileage determined by Localiza.
