  • Whenever possible, use toll roads (“cuotas”) instead of free roads (“libres”).

  • Check that you have enough fuel for your trip. 
  • Fill up before leaving. 
  • Magna gasoline (87 octane): Suitable for most vehicles.

  • Diesel: Mainly used for utility and commercial vehicles. 

Important 

  • Only use the fuel recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. 
  • Before refueling, verify that the fuel pump display is reset to $0.00 and confirm the final amount before paying. 
  • Stay calm and make sure everyone is safe. 
  • Do not move the vehicle until instructed. 
  • Place the warning triangle approximately 100 meters (330 ft) behind the vehicle.

  • Take photos of the scene. 
  • Wait for the insurance adjuster to arrive. 
  • Do not sign any documents unless you fully understand them. 
  • Request a copy of the report. 
  • Return all documentation to Localiza when dropping off the vehicle.

In Mexico, it is standard legal procedure for an insurance adjuster to come to the scene before continuing with the claim.
