The triple frontier can't be missed if you want to visit Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay on the same trip. You can start at Iguaçu Falls – a set of 275 waterfalls that are up to 82 meters (269 feet) high. Iguaçu Falls is protected within Iguaçu National Park in Brazil and Iguazú National Park in Argentina. You can walk along walkways that take you within a few meters of the largest of the waterfalls – called "The Devil's Throat." The falls are located within the world's largest subtropical rainforest reserve.

This region is also home to Itaipu Dam – the world's largest. You'll need to schedule your visit to this magnificent work of engineering and choose between getting a special view of the dam or going inside the power plant. Be sure not to miss seeing the dam at night, when over 600 powerful floodlights project a light show that is synchronized with a soundtrack that was specially created for the show. The complex also contains the La Tierra Guaraní Museum and a zoo.

If you're interested in shopping, the thing to do is cross the Friendship Bridge into Ciudad del Este, where you'll find all kinds of electronic and cosmetic products and clothing for sale. The prices are competitive and the products are of good quality when you buy them in factory-authorized stores. The city used to be the world's second-largest commercial center by sales volume.
