Requirements

  1. The minimum rental age is 21 years old;
  2. Renters must present a valid driver's license held for at least two years;
  3. Credit Card and passport are required.

Easy Payment

If you hold an American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Diners or Elo credit card issued in Brazil , your rentals may be divided in up to ten monthly installments with no interests.

Reservations

Localiza guarantees reservations for up to one hour after the pre-arranged pick-up time provided this delay is within the location’s business hours.

In case there are no vehicles in the category reserved available at pick-up time, one from a higher category will be granted at the same rate (free upgrade).

If you are going to pick up the car at an airport location, please inform the name of the air company, the flight number and the time of arrival. In case of flight delays, Localiza will guarantee the car for you until your arrival.

Risk Coverage

For your safety and tranquility, Localiza offers several liability coverages for the car rented as well as for personal injuries, property damage and moral damage caused to third parties. All you have to do is purchase the risk coverage at the moment of the rental.

Risk Coverage for the car:
The purchase of this risk coverage will guarantee coverage on the rented vehicle  in case of collision, damage, fire, or theft . Regardless of who is to blame for the accident or any other circumnstances that led to the event , the customer will be liable for Operational Costs to the limits established.

Risk Coverage for Third Parties:
The purchase of this risk coverage will guarantee coverage to third parties in case of personal injury, property damage and moral damage. In case the customer is found at fault for the loss, he or she will be liable for Operational Costs up to the limit established.

In order to claim the risk coverages purchased, it is mandatory that customers present the Accident Report and fill in an Accident Notice Form available at all Localiza locations.

Additional Authorized Drivers
The car rented may be driven by any drivers previously authorized in the rental agreement. Such drivers must comply with all the requirements from the main driver, i.e., be over 21 years old and have held a valid driver's license for at least two years.

Each additional driver will be subject to a daily fee which will allow for the extension of the coverages contracted. Such fee will be according to the valid rates at the time of the rental.

Refueling Policy

For your comfort, Localiza will deliver the car with a full tank and you can return it as you wish.

In case the renter does not return the vehicle with a full tank of gas, s/he will be required to pay a fuel charge based on a reading of the gauge by eights and a price table which is available at any Localiza location.

Special Situations

Theft or Robbery

In case of theft or robbery during the rental period report it immediately to Localiza and to the local authorities .

You must present the police report no later than 48 hours after the occurrence and fill Accident Notice Form at a Localiza location.

In case of theft, the keys and documents of the car must be returned. In both cases of theft or robbery, a full tank of fuel will be charged from the rented on the basis of the Localiza’s price table which is available at any Localiza location.

Accidents

In case you get involved in an accident, report it immediately to Localiza and present the police report within 48 hours from the time of the occurrence.

The replacement of the car will be done with no cost in case of any electrical or mechanic failures derived from regular use. Localiza will not replace the rented vehicle in case of theft, robbery, fire, collision, misappropriation, seizure by the authorities, loss, theft or robbery of keys or documents, or failure due to inadequate use of the car.

Traffic Offenses

In view of possible traffic offenses, Localiza files a photocopy of the driver’s license as well as copies of the driver’s licenses of all the additional authorized drivers.

Any traffic fines issued to the rented car during the rental period will be charged to the renter. Localiza will pay the fine on behalf of the renter, report his/her name to the authorities, and charge him/her the amount paid plus a 13% surcharge to cover administrative costs.

For your convenience, such charge will be made to the same credit card utilized to pay for the rental, making use of the signature filed or by an invoice (in case of Brazilian customers).

Caution with the car

Inadequate use of the vehicle may cause the loss of the risk coverages purchased. At the beach, avoid putting the car in contact with the sand or sea water. Besides not being proper terrain for driving, such environments may cause serious damage to the car.

For your own safety, never carry explosives, never overload the car, and never participate in rallies, races or competitions. Such behaviors will result in the loss of the risk coverages purchased.

The vehicle is delivered clean and should be returned in the same condition. In case the vehicle is returned excessively dirty or in other abnormal conditions concerning care, Localiza will charge an additional cleaning fee, according to the conditions stated in the Localiza Rental Contract and according to Localiza’s current table of prices.

Whenever you go out with the vehicle, check if you are carrying your personal documents and those of the car. In case of loss of the car documents or keys, a fee will be charged to cover their replacement.

Be attentive to the information provided by our attendants about the theft alarm installed in our vehicles.

Car Return

The vehicle rented may be returned in any Localiza location.

In case the car is returned in a location different from that where it has been picked up, a return fee will be charged. The amount varies according with the country in which the rental takes place.

Crossing country borders with the rented car is not allowed.

The vehicles picked up at and returned to downtown locations will be subjected to a 5% fee over the amount contracted. For the cars picked up at or returned to airport locations and bus stations, the fee will be 10% over the amount contracted.

Returns at date and time different from those pre-arranged in contract.

To return the car at a date or time different from those pre-arranged in contract, ask for authorization from the location where you rented the vehicle prior to the return date. Business hours may vary from location to location. Make sure you learn about the business hours of the location where you will return the car.

Remember that a daily period has 24 hours with up to one-hour grace period for return. After the 25th hour, 1/5 of the diary rate will be charged per extra hour including the grace period, and one extra diary of the risk coverages.

Airport Assistance

For your convenience and to speed your leisure or business trips, Localiza is present at the arrival areas of the main airports in Brazil and Latin America.

When you make your reservation, inform the name of the air company, the flight number and the time of arrival. In case of flight delays, Localiza will guarantee the car for you until your arrival.

At some airports, Localiza offers a Shuttle Service for your best conveniece. If you are returning a vehicle at one of these airports, inform us in advance of the return location.
